When is Social Justice needed?

Throughout history, people have been advocating for peace. Mary Baker Eddy for women's right to vote, Mahatma Gandhi during India's struggle for independence, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement are some well known examples of those who have stood up against injustice but there are multitudes more throughout time who have striven each day for a more peaceful world. While we continue to makes steps, there is always more progress to be made.

Why is Social Justice important?

Watch the news tonight and put yourself in someone else's shoes. Think about how it would feel if you suddenly were forced to flee your home because of war, if you were struggling to find enough to eat, if you were living on the street and knowing others do not know how you got there, if you were being passed up for a job because of the color of your skin, or if you were confined to a cage that is barely bigger than your body. Social Justice is important to eliminate these injustices and guarantee a more peaceful life not just for some but for all.

How can Social Justice be achieved?

Progress on Social Justice issues can be made by first becoming informed about the issues and the plight of others. Then assistance can be given to causes by telling others about them, including communicating concerns to those in power, donating money to Social Justice movements, and agitating the system by protests, boycotts, speaking out, or taking peaceful action which amplifies your voice that you do not stand for injustice.
